Mumbai Indians extended their dominance in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 as they defeated Gujarat Giants by secen wickets. The game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi saw Gujarat winning the toss and opting to bat.

Gujarat posted 190 for seven but Mumbai chased the target with seven wickets in hand.

Even though Gujarat Giants lost Laura Wolvaardt, skipper Beth Mooney (66:35b, 8x4, 3x6) and Dayalan Hemalatha (74:40b, 9x4, 2x6) held their own for the team.

The pair added 121 runs for the second wicket and put their team in a solid position. However, after that partnership, Mumbai made sure that they didn’t allow other batters to form partnerships and picked wickets at regular intervals.

Bharati Fulmali (21 not out:13b, 1x4, 1x6) in the end made sure Gujarat end the innings on a high. For Mumbai Saika Ishaque was the pick of the bowlers with figures of two for 31.

Hayley Mathews (18:21b, 4x4) and Yastika Bhatia (49:39b 8x4, 1x6) added 50 runs at the top. But the wicket of Mathews brought the scalp of Nat Sciver-Brunt too.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (95 not out:48b, 10x4, 5x6) activated her beast mode and snatched victory from Gujarat. Amelia Kerr supported her well as Mumbai chased the target with seven wickets in hand.
