Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) qualified for the final of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 after they clinched a nail-biting eliminator clash against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday night.

Batting first, Bangalore posted 135 for six and then restricted Mumbai to 130 for six to win the game by five runs. Bangalore will now play Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday. The decision to bat first didn’t go in the favour of Bangalore as they came under pressure right from the start. Both Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine  perished early and to worsen the case Disha Kasat and Richa Ghosh got out too. Bangalore was tottering at 49 four and it was then that Ellyse Perry (66:50b, 8x4, 1x6) stepped up for the team.

Perry slammed a vital half-century and later Georgia Wareham (18 not out:10b, 1x4, 1x6) finished the innings on a high. Bangalore ended the innings at 136 for six. For Mumbai Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Saika Ishaque picked two wickets each.Mumbai Indians had a decent start to their chase as Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia added 27 runs. But both lost their wickets early. Nat Sciver-Brunt (23:17b, 4x4) played a fiery knock for the team that kept Mumbai in the hunt.

After that skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33:30b, 4x4) played a decent knock in the middle phase and it seemed Mumbai would head to an easy win. But Bangalore pulled back things incredibly well. With 12 runs needed off the last over, Asha Sobhana held her nerves and defended the target.
