Squads, Fixtures and All you need to Know - Australia Tour of India, 2023
Australia will be touring India to play a 4 match Test series beginning on the 9th February 2023. A 3 match ODI series is scheduled after the Test Series starting on the 17th Match 2023. The tour will conclude with the 3rd ODI to be played on the 22nd March, in Chennai.
A total of 4 venues will be used for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series namely Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Australia have not won a Test Series in India since 2004 and they will be eager to make a statement in the upcoming tour.
Australia have named 4 spinners for the Test Series including the likes of Nathan Lyon, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Swepson and the debutant Todd Murphy. The four quicks picked up for the Test Series are Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland and Lance Morris. Starc will be missing the First Test though.
On the batting front, Matthew Renshaw has earned a Test call up based on his current form. Apart from him, Peter Handscomb will also be featuring in the Australian Test side after a long time.
According to the Chief Selector George Bailey, "We have selected a squad that provides the depth and flexibility required to adapt depending on the conditions we may encounter."
India on the other hand will be missing the likes of their Ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the First two Tests. Jaydev Unadkat has made a cut into the Indian Test squad based on his performances in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy.
On the batting front, India have included Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in the squad for the first two Test matches. Ravindra Jadeja has also been included in the squad subject to fitness.
It will be an exciting Test and ODI series to watch as both teams will fight their heart out to emerge victorious.
