Afghanistan registered a six wicket win over Sri Lanka in their final warm-up match before the ICC Men's World Cup at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.

After batting first Sri Lanka made 294 in 46.2 overs and in response Afghanistan finished on 261 for four in 38.1 overs to win by DLS method.

Earlier, Sri Lanka rode high on a 52 run stand between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka. Then there was a 158 run third wicket stand between Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama. Mendis retired on 158 off 87 balls with 19 boundaries and nine sixes. Then there was a late order collapse. Towards the end Sri Lanka innings went from 240 for two to 294 in 46.2 overs. For Afghanistan the best bowler was Mohammad Nabi (4-44).

In their response Afghanistan was riding high on a 212 run stand for the second wicket between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah. There was a rain break and that led to reduction of overs. The revised target was 257 in 42 overs. Gurbaz retired on 119 off 92 balls with eight boundaries and nine sixes. Sha finished on 93 off 82 balls with 10 boundaries and three sixes. Afghanistan overhauled the target in 38.1 overs to finish on 261 for four.
