SCORECARD

Match Highlights

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the 22nd match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Chennai made a comeback at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday after facing two back-to-back losses. Opting to bowl, Chennai restricted Kolkata to 137 for nine and then chased the target with more than two overs to spare.

Kolkata had the worst possible start with the bat as they lost Phil Salt off the first ball of the match. However, Sunil Narine (27:20b, 3x4, 2x6) and Angkrish Raghavanshi (24:18b, 3x4, 1x6) brought their team back into the game with their 56-run stand. But after that, things didn’t go in Kolkata’s favour at all as Chennai bowlers were all over the batters and picked wickets quickly. Shreyas Iyer (34:32b, 3x4) was the top run-scorer as Kolkata posted just 137 for nine on the board. For Chennai, Jadeja was a star bowler with figures of three for 18.

Chennai also didn’t have a great start as they lost Rachin Ravindra early. But after that skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (67 not out: 9x4) and Daryl Mitchell (25:19b, 1x4, 1x6) stitched 70 runs for the second wicket to take the game away from the opponents. Shivam Dube (28:18b, 1x4, 3x6) entertained the crowd with his power hitting. Then Gaikwad took the team home with seven wickets in hand.
