England 129/10 (34.5 ov)
India won by 100 runs.
India was asked to bat first and they managed 229 for nine. England looked clueless with the bat as they were bundled out for 129 and lost their fifth game of the tournament.
India was off to a disappointing start as they lost Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer for just 40 runs. However, after that skipper Rohit Sharma (87:101b, 10x4, 3x6) led from the front and bailed his team out of trouble. KL Rahul (39:58b, 3x4) supported him well and the duo added 91 runs for the fourth wicket. After their partnership, the hosts yet again lost quick wickets and were under pressure. Suryakumar Yadav (49:47b, 4x4, 1x6) played well in the end and made sure India put a fighting total on the board. Jasprit Bumrah added 16 runs off 25 balls as Men in Blue posted a total of 229 for nine.
England didn’t get going with the bat at all as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were all over them. Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan added 30 runs for the opening stand. But in no time England was 52 for five. Liam Livingstone (27:46b, 2x4) tried to get going but couldn’t. The brilliance of Indian bowlers was too much for England to handle as they were bundled out for 129 runs. Mohammed Shami picked four wickets whereas Jasprit Bumrah bagged three scalps.
