Delhi Capitals registered their second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. Lucknow after batting first put up 167 for seven. In their response, Delhi lost just four wickets but managed to chase the target comfortably.
Lucknow Super Giants had a horrible start with the bat. Skipper KL Rahul (39:22b,5x4, 1x6) played a decent hand with the bat at one end. Lucknow were reeling at 94 for seven and it seemed that they would get out for a low total. But Ayush Badoni (55 not out:35b, 5x4, 1x6) played a fighting knock and powered his team to a total of 167 for seven. For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of three for 20.
Delhi lost David Warner early in the chase but Prithvi Shaw (32:22b,6x4) made sure he played a decent hand for the team. After he got out, debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk (55:35b, 2x4, 5x6) and skipper Rishabh Pant (41:24b, 4x4, 2x6) added 77 runs for the third wicket and took their team close to target. Delhi chased the target with six wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
